Linda Keith of North Logan was recently honored with the Power of Service Award for her outstanding volunteer work, presented by Lt. Governor Spencer J. Cox and UServeUtah at the Utah State Capitol on November 9, 2017.
Three years ago, Linda answered the call to help veterans, stepping up as a volunteer driver to take them to medical appointments in Salt Lake City. Up to four times a month, she drives a 12-person van from the Cache Senior Center to the Veterans Administration Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Center, picking up veterans along the way in Brigham City, Ogden, and Clearfield. While Linda initially began this work to give back to veterans, she now considers them her close friends.
Linda’s volunteer efforts extend far beyond her service to veterans. Since retiring three years ago from her career as a public relations specialist, she has dedicated over a decade to supporting her Cache Valley community. She has volunteered more than 2,000 hours with local organizations such as the English Language Center and Global Village Gifts in Logan, and she annually contributes to the Utah Public Radio fund drive. Additionally, Linda has served on the board for the Friends of the North Logan Library.
Her commitment to service also shines through her work with the Meals on Wheels program, where she has delivered more than 7,500 meals to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities. Linda doesn’t just drop off food—she takes the time to check in on the well-being of those she serves, building meaningful relationships along the way.
Nominated for the Lt. Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Certificate by Rodney Pack, Senior and Community Volunteer Coordinator at Public & School Partnership, Linda’s extraordinary contributions earned her the prestigious Power of Service Award.
“Linda is a kind person: conscious of others’ needs, genuine, and sees the good in everyone,” Pack shared. “She provides a lifeline for veterans and for many others, and her dedication is highly valued by the organizations she serves.”
The Power of Service Award is presented three times a year to volunteers who show a significant commitment to their communities and embody the transformative power of volunteerism. Congratulations to Linda Keith for this well-deserved recognition!
