In April 2016, Maggie LaDuca of St. George, Utah, was honored with the UServeUtah Power of Service Award. The award was presented by UServeUtah Commissioner Dave Clark and Director LaDawn Stoddard at the Southern Utah Community Impact Summit.
Maggie was recognized for her exceptional service as a skills-based volunteer at the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society, where she has made a significant impact since the organization’s founding in March 2012. As a professional bookkeeper, Maggie generously volunteers her expertise, advising the society on proper nonprofit financial practices and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Her dedication has saved the organization valuable resources, allowing more funds to be directed toward helping clients.
The organization’s founder, LuAnn Lundquist, praised Maggie for not only serving as their bookkeeper for the past four years but also recruiting other volunteers to support the society’s growth. Maggie’s efforts have been instrumental in expanding the organization’s capacity to serve the community.
“Maggie is a vivacious senior who cares about the well-being of others,” Lundquist shared. “She welcomes caregivers with a happy and genuine greeting, putting them at ease the moment they walk in the door.”
