UServeUtah hosted the Generation Volunteer Summit this past Saturday at Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville, bringing together 173 young Utahns for a day focused on leadership, learning, and meaningful service. The summit encouraged youth ages 15–25 to connect with their communities, develop new skills, and make a positive impact through hands-on volunteer projects.
Throughout the event, participants worked alongside partner organizations on six service projects that supported children, families, and communities locally and globally. Their combined efforts created an impressive collective impact:
- 131 food items collected for Utah Community Action to help support families experiencing food insecurity.
- 80 sets of Classroom Cue Cards prepared for Head Start Preschool, supporting nonverbal children and English Language Learners.
- 200 wooden toy cars sanded and oiled for Tiny Tim’s Toys, preparing them for the next stage of production before being sent to children around the world.
- 150+ cards created for children battling serious illness, to be delivered through Letters of Love.
- 21 types of seeds re-packaged to support 150 refugee and New American families through the IRC New Roots program, helping them grow culturally appropriate foods at home.
- 100 car/activity kits assembled with Utah Foster Care to help reduce anxiety for foster children traveling to bio family visits or court hearings.

Moments That Stood Out
The projects demonstrated how service—even in small, simple actions—can come together to create something larger. Participants moved through each station with enthusiasm and purpose, working efficiently and supporting one another along the way. Whether sanding wooden toys, sorting seeds, or assembling activity kits, attendees could clearly see how their efforts contributed to the needs of children and families across Utah and beyond.
The Generation Volunteer Summit highlighted the power of young people coming together around a shared purpose. UServeUtah extends sincere thanks to every attendee, presenter, and community partner who made this event possible. Their collective dedication helped strengthen Utah communities and inspire the next generation of volunteers.
