Press advisory: Save the date for One Utah Service Fellowship Launch

Press are invited to report as Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox launches the One Utah Service Fellowship, the state’s groundbreaking initiative designed to strengthen the spirit of service and volunteerism across Utah.
The launch event will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 19, 2024 in the Gold Room of the Utah State Capitol, coordinated by UServeUtah, the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism.
The One Utah Service Fellowship is nationally groundbreaking in combining state, private and AmeriCorps funding. The program’s mission is to provide opportunities for young adults to participate in high-impact service addressing critical state needs. The fellowship offers the opportunity for participants to develop leadership skills, gain valuable experience, and contribute to transformative projects across Utah.
The launch event will highlight the importance of national service, and how the One Utah Service Fellowship will empower young adults to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Speakers will include Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, AmeriCorps CEO Michael Smith, AmeriCorps State/National Director Sonali Nijhawan, and Utah Valley University President Astrid Tuminez.
The Sept. 19 event will feature the swearing-in ceremony for some of the inaugural One Utah Service Fellows, led by Sonali Nijhawan. This first class of fellows represents a dynamic group of young Utahns dedicated to serving their communities and driving positive change.
