Karen McCandless is the Executive Director of Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo. She has a degree from BYU in Geography with an emphasis in Urban and Regional Planning. Karen served on the Orem City Council from 2001-2014, worked in the public and private sectors as a land use planner, and is passionate about building strong communities. She is the recipient of the Walter C. Orem award for her community service and was recognized as a UVU Champion of Inclusion for her efforts in supporting under-resourced college students. Karen’s favorite volunteer experiences include being a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and utilizing her training as a chaplain.
