Christine Pearce honored with AmeriCorps Seniors Service Award

Christine (pictured above, right) has been serving with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for over a year, since October 25, 2019. She has served a total of 65 hours, serving on average over 2 hours a week. At the beginning of her service, Christine provided caregiver respite until the care receiver passed away. She was extremely helpful to her assigned caregiver during that time. Since COVID-19, she has doubled her hours of service. She has written several letters to isolated older adults during COVID. Christine has faithfully visited an older adult in an assisted living/retirement community and goes above and beyond in befriending her client. She plays bingo and other games with her client, and is a good listener. Christine’s station representative speaks highly of her and the impact she has on her client. When she cannot visit in-person, she calls to check in and provide companionship to her client. Christine is a great representative of RSVP because she always gives valuable feedback, befriends other volunteers, dutifully attends meetings, and is timely in her service and reporting. We are grateful to have her as part of our volunteer force.

About the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program:

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program pairs thousands of Americans aged 55 and older with organizations making change in communities across the country.

AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who serve in our RSVP program choose how, where, and when they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. You can find an opportunity with any of the thousands of organizations we work with that see service as a solution to local, regional, and national challenges. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers themselves report better health and longevity having served their community.
