John Robertson, Nominated by the Uintah County Library

John has been a volunteer at the Library through the Foster Grandparent since 2019. He has help with many events & activities but his biggest impact in my opinion has been in my teen room. I am the teen service coordinator for the Library and John has been helping me in the teen room for the past year and a half. On days and nights that I can’t stay John supervises the room for me, which is no easy task. I’ve had 2 other volunteers try and watch the teens but John has been the one to come through and really connect with them. They look forward to the days he’s here and have even created a nickname for him (Frank). John has not only earned their respect but also their compassion. One night John got sick an ambulance had to come. John was ok but had to leave early that night. The next day when I arrived at my desk there was a pill of get well cards from the teens that were there that night. They were worried about him and wanted him to know they we thinking of him. I had kids coming in after school to just ask if he was ok. John has had a positive impact on these kids. John also stepped up when I had heart surgery in August by coming in daily to watch the teens. I wish I could tell you more stories but unfortunately they don’t fit within 250 words.
