Tim Thorne Honored with Utah AmeriCorps Seniors Service Award

Tim is an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer serving in Davis County with the RSVP program. He volunteers at Antelope Island State Park, as a Meals-on-Wheels driver, at Eagle Bay Elementary as a Literacy Tutor, and can often be found helping out at local events. Tim’s commitment to serving his community and his remarkable volunteer efforts make him an outstanding recipient of this award.

Volunteering runs in the family, as Tim’s wife, LeeAnn “Lani,” also contributes her time and efforts as an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer. Together, they embody the spirit of service and community.

Trish Ackley, Park Naturalist at Antelope Island State Park, nominated Tim for this award, highlighting his exceptional service at the park’s Visitor Center since 2016. Trish shares:

“Tim has been welcoming people at the Antelope Island State Park Visitor Center since 2016. When asked, he says he volunteers here for two reasons: he loves the island, the scenery, and the wildlife – and he loves the people he gets to meet and chat with. We see visitors from across the globe, and Tim makes a great first impression. He says that when he travels and comes across really friendly and helpful people that it makes it memorable. ‘I want to be THAT guy!’ Well, Tim – you ARE that guy, and we are so grateful for you.”

Up through 2023, Tim has completed over 1,400 hours of service at Antelope Island State Park alone. His extensive contributions across various organizations highlight his boundless generosity and commitment to making the world a better place.

Tim’s volunteerism is a testament to the profound impact one person can have on their community. We are grateful for his service and congratulate him for receiving the Utah AmeriCorps Seniors Service Award. Thank you, Tim, for being an inspiration to us all. Your dedication and kindness truly make a difference.
