Spooky Ways to Serve

October, 2021

Halloween is upon us! As we enter into the spookiest weekend of the year, we challenge you to find a way to serve and make a difference.

Spread some spooky cheer by donating to the Afghan Community fund to support the 765 afghan arrivals coming to Utah soon.

If you prefer to stay at home to Trick or Treat this year volunteer remotely by baking a cake for disadvantaged children, answering calls from survivors of hurricane Ida, or becoming a Christmas wish granter.

While young ones spend a night running door to door collecting as much fun sized candy as they can carry, they are bound to drop some wrappers on the ground in their frenzy! This weekend, if you notice some collateral Halloween damage in the form of garbage, take a minute to pick it up and beautify your neighborhood or favorite walking trail! Every little bit makes a difference.

Check on your neighbors! If you’re trick or treating, take a minute to ask if they need help with anything. There are a lot of winterizing projects needing to be done now that we are feeling the freeze, and those less mobile may need some assistance. If you’re past the age of trick or treating, do it in reverse! Stop by to drop off some treats and make sure those in your neighborhood are doing well.

As we enter our first of many cold snaps of the season, consider those who may be in need of warm winter supplies or a healthy meal. Local shelters, community centers, and nonprofits have begun posting their needs for both donations and meals! Need help finding a way to serve near you?
